Century Launches U.S. Marketing Initiatives

Jun 10, 2011

Century Cruises, which operates a fleet of luxury river ships on China’s Yangtze River, has announced that it has launched a series of initiatives to support its preferred tour operator partnerships in the United States. The campaign includes increasing its outreach to travel agents through trade shows and e-marketing, and inaugurating a public relations program to enhance brand recognition, distinguish the cruise line from its competition, and increase its share of the U.S. market.

The move comes as Century finalizes the timetable for the introduction of two new luxury ships to its Yangtze fleet. The Century fleet is composed of the Century Star, Century Sky, Century Sun, Century Diamond, and Century Emerald. With all ships built after 2003, the company claims the most modern amenities of any Yangtze River cruise line. Century cruises are currently featured in the programs of many leading tour operators and cruise lines, including Viking River Cruises, Gate One Travel, Princess Cruises and Tours, and Travel Bound.

“We are very eager to work with our tour operator partners in the United States in order to create the best cruise offerings for their customers. We are also eager to meet with potential partners to discuss our new marketing strategies and fleet expansion,” Alex Ye, Century’s vice president, marketing, stated. “Century has established a strong reputation for world-class service, with amenities that include the largest standard deluxe cabins of any ship on the Yangtze, a highly trained, on-board European staff to see to our passengers needs, as well as a private balcony for every cabin – so every passenger has a front-row seat to one of the world’s most dramatic natural views.”

Century recently became the first river cruise company to issue an Initial Public Offering on a major stock exchange, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China. It has an international reputation for providing world-class service and accommodations, Western style and Chinese cuisine, and amenities that include a wide range of entertainment, cultural, and other leisure activities. Century’s ships also feature Internet access and top international cable channels, such as CNN and HBO.

“We are looking forward to growing our brand, and to helping American travelers experience this unique journey on one of the most beautiful and historic rivers,” Ye added.

Agents can contact the company’s senior U.S. representative, Jeff O’Rourke, at 888-980-8747 or [email protected].
