At the end of September, Princess Cruises’ Golden Princess began a new series of voyages, called Getaway Cruises, on the West Coast. Previously known for offering longer itineraries, the company recently debuted three- and four-day sailings that allow guests to sample the line’s onboard experience and visit a variety of Southern California destinations. Departing roundtrip from Los Angeles (San Pedro) onboard the Golden Princess and Sapphire Princess, the cruises run throughout the fall and into the spring 2014 season.
“Our new getaway cruises are a great new option for anyone looking for a quick way to escape from the daily grind,” said Jan Swartz, Princess executive vice president. “Passengers can sample the Princess experience of fine international dining and world-class entertainment onboard our comfortable, elegant ships. These cruises are also perfect for celebrations such as a birthdays, anniversaries, reunions or girlfriend getaways.”
Itineraries include the three-day West Coast Sampler onboard the Golden Princess, which calls in Ensenada. The cruise departs October through Nov. 1. The Sapphire Princess sails on Jan. 13 and Mar. 11, 14, 21, 24 and 31, 2014.
The four-day sampler offers a variety of ports, with opportunities to visit Catalina Island, Santa Barbara or San Diego in addition to Ensenada. In 2013, the Golden Princess will sail to Catalina on Nov. 7; Santa Barbara on Sept. 30, Oct. 24 and Nov. 11; and San Diego on Oct.10 and 28 and Nov. 27. In 2014, Sapphire Princess takes over, sailing to Catalina on Jan. 5 and 20; Santa Barbara on Jan. 16 and 28, Mar. 17 and 27; and San Diego on Jan. 9 and 24. Pricing starts at $199.
Getaway cruises will return in fall 2014 and spring 2015 as well.
