“Uncle” Jimmy Duvauchelle — a longtime Molokai paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) — retired from ranching earlier this year after a storied career. On Nov. 2, Molokai Ranch is honoring him by hosting the Molokai Heritage Rodeo, a rip-snortin’ event where contestants compete for trophy buckles and cash prizes. Clients can get a firsthand look at traditional rodeo activities and enjoy cultural demonstrations, paniolo displays, Hawaiian healing exhibits, live entertainment and food booths. During the day, the Molokai Ranch arena will be renamed the Uncle Jimmy Duvauchelle Rodeo Arena. Admission is free and open to the public. Look for all the action in the town of Maunaloa on the island’s west side. www.molokairanch.com
