In July, Botswana Tourism and the Orange County chapter of the Association of the Promotion of Tourism of Africa (APTA) hosted “Botswana Braii in July,” the first event of its kind in the U.S. and part of Botswana Tourism’s new eLearning program aimed at U.S. travel agents. Approximately 50 agents from Orange County APTA attended the event at Sherman Library and Gardens of Corona del Mar, Calif., as did representatives from various lodging and transportation vendors from Botswana. The online program, which has already been implemented in the U.K., will launch later this year in the U.S. and Canada.

“Our goal in launching a Botswana online education program is to enrich [U.S. travel agents'] knowledge about Botswana and its unique appeal as a leisure tourism destination,” said Leslee Hall from Botswana Tourism. “We hope that by gaining foundational knowledge about Botswana’s tourism regions, culture and history, along with practical traveler information and tips for selling the destination, travel agents will gain confidence in promoting Botswana to their clients and prospects seeking a dream trip of a lifetime.”
