The Disneyland Resort is revving up its engines for the summer. Building on the launch of CarsLand at Disney California Adventure Park last summer, Disneyland has seen its own improvements with the debut of a new storybook village, Fantasy Faire, and the new stage show, “Mickey and the Magical Map,” which premiered in May and is now open to guests at the park in the refurbished Fantasyland Theatre.
“I am thrilled beyond words,” said Kevin Eld, vice president of Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment. “I cannot remember being this excited for the opening of a new show.”
“Mickey and the Magical Map” is a live stage show that takes guests on a musical adventure with a mischievous Mickey Mouse. The LED map, the largest of the characters, spans the stage and takes Mickey on a theatrical journey that includes encounters with classic Disney characters such as Pocahontas, Mulan, King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” Tiana from “The Princess and the Frog” and others.
Guests can see more new live entertainment in the park at the recently opened Royal Theatre in Fantasy Faire, where two princess-themed shows tell the tales of Rapunzel (“Tangled”) and Belle (“Beauty and the Beast”). At Disney California Adventure, “Disney Junior – Live on Stage!” has also welcomed new favorites. Characters from Disney Junior television shows, “Sofia the First” and “Doc McStuffins” have joined the gang from “Mickey Mouse Clubhouse” and “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” in a show targeted toward preschoolers. www.disneyland.com
