Only a select group of travelers has the time and funds to embark on a world cruise. If some of those explorers are on your client roster, knowing what world cruises are setting sail is a good idea.

Lines such as Azamara Cruises, Crystal and Costa Cruises are embarking on global routes from California, and brands including Explora Journeys have itineraries planned through 2029. Here are upcoming world cruises and extended sailings that clients might be interested in.

Editor's Note: This story was updated on June 18, 2026.

Azamara Cruises

Azamara Cruises will deploy Azamara Quest in 2027 on the line’s longest-ever 188-night itinerary, visiting 37 countries, 103 destinations and five continents. The trip will also include 50 late-night stays and 15 overnights. Highlights will encompass Sydney, Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, Amsterdam and more. The cruise departs from San Francisco on Jan. 5, 2027, and will disembark in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 12.

The line is already looking to 2028, when it will send Azamara Onward on a slightly abbreviated 175-night route covering six continents, 40 countries and 91 ports. UNESCO World Heritage Sites showcased along the way will include Vatican City in Italy, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, the Acropolis in Greece and Komodo National Park in Indonesia. The voyage will first embark in Miami on Jan. 5, 2028, disembarking in Athens on June 29.

Costa Cruises

Another option from California, Costa Cruises’ shorter 100-day voyage (139-day if leaving from Savona, Italy on November 26, 2026) is also set to newly embark in San Francisco, just days before on January 3, 2027. For the longer duration, the Italian line’s Costa Deliziosa will cover 29 countries, 47 destinations and five continents, including the western and eastern U.S. coastlines, Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Australia, Japan and Singapore, as well as Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas. Both lengths will conclude in Savona.

And in 2028, the same ship is scheduled to sail again from San Francisco on January 3, embarking on  a slightly shorter 98- or 99-day around-the-world voyage that will conclude in either Barcelona or Marseille almost exactly one year later.

Crystal

On Crystal, the luxury line will offer a 140-night 2027 world cruise that will cover 83 destinations overall from California once more. Leaving from San Diego on January 8, 2027, will be Crystal Serenity journeying south to Mexico and Central America, across to the South Pacific then Australia and New Zealand, north to Asia and back across to Alaska. The Pacific Rim route, developed in partnership with Abercrombie & Kent, will end in Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 28, 2027.

In 2028, Crystal will also embark on Treasures of the Tides, an epic, 150-night journey onboard Crystal Symphony. This sailing will mark the line’s most expansive world cruise ever, and the ship’s first of any length since 2018, visiting 84 total destinations across 39 countries on six continents. The itinerary will sail Jan. 11 through June 10, 2028, roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. For those seeking a slightly shorter option, there’s a sailing that will disembark early in Barcelona, Spain, on May 27.

Highlights of Treasures of the Tides will encompass first-time calls in Huahine, French Polynesia; Portland, Kangaroo Island, Albany and Geraldton in Australia; Nha Trang, Vietnam; and Mangalore, India. Along the way, there will be exclusive events and celebrations in Lima, Peru; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and certain shore excursions will be curated in collaboration with sister company Abercrombie & Kent. Crystal chairman and brand ambassador Fernando Barroso de Oliveira will also be onboard for the duration of the sailing.

Cunard

Into 2027 and 2028, Cunard has a trio of 100-plus-night, round-the-world voyages for clients to consider, showcasing overnights in the likes of Los Angeles; Sydney; Hong Kong; Singapore; Yokohama, Japan; and Cape Town, South Africa. Queen Victoria is scheduled for a 109-night departure from Southampton, U.K., on Jan. 10, 2027, to nearly three dozen ports in Europe, Central America, the United States, Australasia, Asia and Africa. The following year, Queen Elizabeth will first embark on Jan. 6, 2028, from Miami on a 113-night voyage to 30 destinations in the U.S., Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Central America. And then on Jan. 9, 2028, the line’s new Queen Anne will head out on a 115-night sailing from Hamburg, Germany, to yet another 30-plus ports of call around the world.

Explora Journeys

Luxury cruise newcomer Explora Journeys will begin the line’s very first “Endless Worlds” itinerary on Jan. 6, 2029, sailing from Dubai and covering four continents, 29 countries and territories and 63 overall destinations across its 128-day span. On the route, Explora I will traverse the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans before concluding in the Mediterranean Sea on May 14. Port calls the ship will make extend from multiple Australian cities to French Polynesia and remote islands in the Azores, Portugal.

Holland America Line

In 2027, Holland America Line is planning the 129-day Grand World Voyage onboard Volendam, as well as a shorter 70-day Grand South America & Antarctica Voyage onboard Zaandam.

Sailing roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, the Grand World Voyage will head to a total of 53 ports in 28 countries, 19 of which will be exclusive to Grand Voyages itineraries, such as Georgetown, Ascension Island, and Jamestown, St. Helena.

The itinerary also includes visits to 31 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a four-day Antarctic inclusion, eight days in New Zealand and two equator crossings.

MSC Cruises

In 2028, MSC Cruises will highlight its newly MSC Yacht Club-equipped MSC Magnifica on a 115-night global sailing that will head to more than 40 destinations across 29 countries, many of which will be new to the line. Maiden ports will include Nuku’alofa, Tonga; Manta, Ecuador; Arica, Chile; Callao, Peru; Chan May, Vietnam; Sihanoukville, Cambodia; and Grand Turk Island, Turks & Caicos. Guests will also have the opportunity to overnight in the likes of Lima, Peru; Papeete, Tahiti; Sydney; and Hanoi, Vietnam. The ship will conveniently embark in either Civitavecchia, Italy; Genoa, Italy; Marseille, France; or Barcelona on Jan. 4, 5, 6 and 7, respectively.

Oceania Cruises

Oceania Cruises will deploy its second to newest ship, Vista, on a literary 180-day “Around the World” cruise starting on January 6, 2027, along the opposite coast in Miami, Florida. In total, the voyage will touch on over 100 ports in 46 countries and six continents, finishing in London. The line is also offering a longer 244-day Epic Global Adventure from Miami to New York or a shorter 127-day Continental Explorer from Miami to Doha, Qatar.

Looking ahead to 2028, Princess will again offer a 115-day voyage aboard Coral Princess, departing on January 3 from Fort Lauderdale and sailing roundtrip, with an alternative embarkation option available in Los Angeles. Shorter segments ranging from 20 to 100 days may also be booked independently. The full voyage will visit five continents and introduce a new shoreside African safari experience. The Grand Arctic Expedition and the Grand Mediterranean Odyssey sailings can be combined into a 174-night Grand European Discovery package.

Silversea

Silversea has already mapped out its themed world cruises for the  next three years: “The Three Oceans” in 2027, “An Ode to the Moment” in 2028 and “A Pacific Awakening” in 2029.

After focusing on everything from Polynesian culture to a feature of Victoria Falls in 2027, as well as  a special musical performance at St. Anne’s Cathedral in Belfast, the luxury line’s 2028 132-day world cruise will send Silver Shadow to 58 destinations in 29 countries while featuring 17 overnights. The ship will also embark in Miami on January 5, before concluding in Nice, France on May 16. Divided into “chapters,” the journey will tell the story of the tropics, rainforests, fire and ice, traditions, time, nature, spice and silk, ancient lands and empires.

Although abbreviated to 125 days, the 2029 world cruise will still visit more than 60 destinations in 19 countries, covering a variety of ports in Micronesia, Australia, Asia and beyond. The voyage will also feature six of Silversea’s signature events as highlights of the journey.

Viking

Last but not least, Viking is offering numerous world cruises. The seagoing Viking Sky will embark from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 22, 2026, and disembark in Stockholm on June 10, 2027, after a complete 170-day world cruise to half a dozen continents. A trio of shorter alternatives include a 153-day one from Los Angeles to Stockholm, a 142-day one from Fort Lauderdale to London, or a 125-day one from Los Angeles to London.

For its 2028-2029 world cruises, the line will send Viking Vesta to six continents, 31 countries and up to 45 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The voyage is a 142-day journey departing from Fort Lauderdale on December 21 and concluding in London. Travelers seeking a longer adventure can opt for a 170-day journey that continues beyond London to 21 additional ports across Northern Europe and Scandinavia before ending in Stockholm. For even greater variety, Viking is also offering alternative 125-day and 153-day itineraries, both departing from Los Angeles.
